Subject: Evaluating Four
Different Hosts for My Personal Professional Web Site
The purpose of this
memorandum is to evaluate four different website for our personal website. The
four different website that I evaluated are Tennessee State University (TSU)
Web server, Geocities Web server, Fortunecity Web server, and Angelfire Web
server.
The first web server that
I evaluated is the TSU Web server. This is a free web server available to all
students in the university until graduation. However, students maintain the web
server with their service fee included in their tuition. TSU’s Web server is
also usable to students who have an account with the university. In addition,
the web server offers 20 mega bytes of web space, Microsoft FrontPage to upload
pages, unlimited bandwidth, and no pop-up ads.
The disadvantages of the
TSU web server are that you have too much interference, server always down, and
longer download time.
The second web server that
I evaluated is the Yahoo Geocities Web server. Yahoo Geocities Web server
offers free and paid web space to anyone wishing to develop a web page. It also
has a guide on how to develop a web page that makes it easier and faster to
create a web page. In addition, the web server is very stable and stays active
as long as you want it. Yahoo Geocities offers 25 mega bytes of web space, 3
giga bytes of bandwidth, uploading files with FTP, pop-up ads, updating files,
and easy to remember domain name.
Another web server that I
evaluated is the Fortunecity Web server. This another web site that offers free
web server to anyone that wishes to develop their web page on their website.
Fortunecity also offers clear, simple, and understanding guidelines on web page
creation. Some features that Fortunecity web server are many downsides, banner
pop-up ads, 25MB web space, FTP access, 3 giga bytes of bandwidth, Online support
document, and Microsoft FrontPage upload.
Lastly, is the Angelfire
Web server. This web server is very simple to understand and helps to create
one of the easiest web pages. Angelfire has free features like customer
support, technical support, update files, Microsoft FrontPage upload, and 25MB
web space.
In conclusion, all the
four web servers that I evaluated gave me an overall overview of web sites that
were accessible, free, and reliable for easy creation of web pages. However,
the best web server out of the four that I will choose for my personal
professional web page is the Geocities because it is reliable, stable, has page
Persian templates and no pop-up ads.
